Technology
Zolpidem is a well-documented substance that has been used for a long time against insomnia. The Edluar tablet is placed under the tongue where it rapidly dissolves and the active substance is absorbed through the mucous membrane. The international pharmaceutical company Meda has acquired the global rights to Edluar.
Approval
The FDA approved Edluar for the short-term treatment of insomnia in March 2009. Orexo’s partner, Meda, launched the product on the US market in August, 2009.
