OX51 - Treatment of acute intense pain

Project status

Positive clinical data for OX51 was reported in the first quarter ox 2011. This is a new sublingual formulation of an existing treatment for acute intensive pain episodes, associated with care-related, diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, in patients who currently are not receiving sufficient pain relief. OX51 should allow pain treatment in these procedures to become more efficient and the need for sedating patients should be reduced. The planning of the first patient study within the program was completed during the second half of 2011.

Market

The medical need is estimated at around 130 million pain episodes, annually in the U.S. and the EU.
