OX-MPI

Since 2005, Orexo and Boehringer Ingelheim have cooperated on the OX-MPI project, which aims to develop a new drug to treat pain and inflammation. The collaboration was extended during 2008 and applies through to November 2009. This collaboration is partly research based and partly a licensing agreement that gives the German company exclusive global rights to register, market and sell the products developed within the scope of the project, except for the Nordic and Baltic countries, where both of the companies may jointly market the products.

In connection with the original signing of the collaboration and licensing agreement, Orexo received a payment and the company is also entitled to compensation for development work, as well as milestones when certain set targets are attained. The total payments to Orexo may amount to EUR 250m, excluding royalties, if all sub-targets are attained. To date Orexo has received about EUR 27m from Boehringer Ingelheim.
