Håkan Åström (born 1947), Chairman 

Chairman of the board and director since 2003. M.Sc. Bus. Adm. Dr. Åström is chairman of the boards of directors of Affibody Holding AB, Biovitrum AB, Ferrosan A/S, Sanos Bioscience A/S and TopoTarget A/S, and director of the board of directors of Karolinska Institutet and the fund-raising foundation Växthuset för barn.

Mr. Åström has worked in the pharmaceutical industry ever since graduating from the Stockholm School of Economics. He has been President of a number of companies, such as Travenol AB (now owned by Baxter International Inc.), Astra Pharmaceuticals Ltd., United Kingdom, and Kabi Pharmacia AB. In his most recent position, Mr. Åström was Senior Vice President of Pharmacia Corporation, in charge of the group’s strategy and communication. Concurrently, he was President of Pharmacia AB. Mr. Åström holds an Honorary Doctorate in Medicine at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg.

Monica Caneman (born 1954)

Director since 2004. M.Sc. Bus. Adm. Ms. Caneman is chairman of the boards of directors of AP4, Electronic Transaction Group Nordic AB, Linkmed AB and SOS International AS. Ms. Caneman is also director of the board of directors of EDB Business Partner ASA, Investment AB Öresund, Nordisk Energiförvaltning ASA, Poolia AB, Schibstedt ASA, SJ AB, Svenska Dagbladets AB and Securia AB.

Ms. Caneman has worked at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken for 25 years, where she has held various senior management positions, inter alia, as Executive Vice President.

Raymond G. Hill (born 1945)

B. Pharm., Ph.D., D.Sc., (Hon) F. Med. Sci. Visiting Professor at, Bristol, Surrey, Imperial and Strathclyde Universities. He is President and Chairman of the Council of Trustees of the British Pharmacological Society. He is a non-Executive Director of the Swiss companies Addex and Covagen and of Lectus in the UK.

Dr. Hill worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 25 years mostly in basic drug discovery research initially for Parke Davis then Smith Kline and French and (1990 - 2002) for Merck as Executive Director, Pharmacology at the Neuroscience Research Centre. He then served as Executive Director, Licensing and External Research, Europe for Merck until his retirement on 30th April 2008.

Peter Lindborg (born 1957).  

Director since 2009. Senior Vice President of Biogen Idec, at the International headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. His responsibilities today includes Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Nordic, Italy, Switzerland and all partner business.

Mr. Lindborg has worked in the pharmaceutical industry ever since studying Business Administration at the University of Stockholm. Over the last 17 years he has been based outside of Sweden when holding many different Senior International Management positions including Global Brand Director at Merck&Co, Inc. (USA), Senior Director- Japan& Asia Pacific at Biogen Inc (Cambridge, MA, USA) and Managing Director Australia&New Zealand at Biogen Idec (Sydney, Australia).

Mr Lindborg also have previous experience from Merck Sharp & Dohme, Roussel Nordiska AB and KABI Pharmacia.

Staffan Lindstrand (born 1962)

Director since 2002. M.Sc. in Engineering. Mr. Lindstrand is a partner of HealthCap and director of the board of directors of Aerocrine AB, Biotage AB, HealthCap AB, NeuroNova AB, OxThera AB and XCounter AB.

Prior to joining HealthCap in 1997, he gained over ten years of investment banking experience, mainly with Aros Securities.

Bengt Samuelsson (born 1934) 

Director since 2008. MD, PhD. Professor at Karolinska Institutet.Received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1982 for his research on arachidonic acid.

Board member of Biotage AB, Cardoz AB, LTB4 Sweden and Nicox SA.

Michael Shalmi (born 1965)

Director since 2010. M.D., MBA.

Michael is a senior partner in Novo A/S investment unit Novo Growth Equity. Before he joined Novo A/S, he held various
international leading positions within Novo Nordisk for fifteen years.

Michael does not hold any shares in Orexo.

 

Kjell Strandberg (born 1938)

Director since 2003. M.D., Ph.D. in Pharmacology. Dr. Strandberg is Professor in pharmacotherapeutics and chairman of the board of directors and Chief Executive Officer of Kjell Strandberg Consulting and board member of Innate Pharmaceuticals and Foundation for Pharmaceutical Medicine.

Dr. Strandberg is chairman of the NDA Regulatory Science Advisory Board and was previously Director General of the Swedish Medical Products Agency. Mr. Strandberg is member of the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences.
